Funding for the Collection and Distribution of Specimens

The NCI supports the collection and distribution of the specimens needed to advance research. If you have established a human specimen collection or have access to human specimens and data that would be useful for research and would like to discuss your needs or possible options, please visit the Resource Development Branch staff list.

The NCI has generally used Requests for Applications (RFAs) or Program Announcements (PAs) to support human specimen resources for research. NCI specimen resource support has also been made available through Cancer Center, Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) and clinical cooperative group funding. Collections are also supported as part of research studies and as institutional shared resources.
